Built by Legends (BBL), founded in 2019 by Masaharu Kuji and Katsu Takahashi, creates restomods based on the Nissan Skyline GT-R, built between 1989 and 2002 in R32, R33, and R34 variants.

Originally with a 280 hp engine, BBL’s Skylines now deliver 650 hp, with a modified twin-turbo engine developed in collaboration with the Japanese tuner Mine’s. These models are all right-hand drive and were never sold in the US as new, but they can now be imported due to their age being over 25 years. Since 2021, BBL has completed five Skylines, with the first model being shipped to Texas.

BBL is inspired by companies like Singer Vehicle Design, which “reimagines” Porsches, but aims to create modernized and comfortable Skylines with sophisticated interiors and cutting-edge technology, without compromising durability and daily usability. The company avoids extreme transformations like converting to left-hand drive, focusing on balancing performance and comfort.

Prices for the modifications on Skylines range from $350,000 to $450,000, depending on the engine specifications.

The company plans to expand, starting with working on Honda Civics, including EG6 and EK9 Type R models. The demand for Skylines GT-R is growing, and BBL is looking to cater to the global market, especially in the US, where the import of Japanese cars is becoming more common. Additionally, BBL is collaborating with Toprank International to ensure that the vehicles are legally registered and imported, further expanding its reach in the international market.
